"Not Not Not Not Not Enough Oxygen" by Caryl Churchill
Not Not Not Not Not Enough Oxygen by Caryl Churchill
Directed by Ben Gullard
It's 2010, the world is getting warmer. In fact, it's cooking. From the window of a cluttered flat in London, Vivian and Mick watch the world slowly burn before their eyes. Doomsday activists have decided to take matters into their own hands, and one comes knocking on their door - Mick's son Claude.
Vivian - brain damaged due to asphyxiation or simply losing control of her ability to communicate with words? Incredibly challenging female role with continents of character to explore.
Mick - Your father, bitter.
Claude - Male or female. Fanatic of self-actualized? Is s/he saving the world or destroying it? Your age. Sings like you do.

"Tongues" by Sam Shepard & Joseph Chaikin
Tongues by Sam Shepard and Joseph Chaikin
Directed by Colleen Toole
An abstract piece for voice and percussion, Tongues is an exploration of the possibilities of expression through voice and sound. It is about freeing yourself from the constraints and comforts of the familiar to embrace the unknown, and unlocking the song in each of us that will enable us to finally hear each other.
Casting 2 actors, male OR female:
The Speaker - Gives voice to all of the words and characters in the piece; range of vocal expression is important.
The Percussionist - Creates the world and scene partners of each voice through percussive sound. No drumming experience necessary - we'll be exploring non-traditional instruments.
Creativity, enthusiasm and playfulness are a must as we work to create this world together. Anything possibly related to sound that you can bring in (dialects, beat-boxing, bird calls, you name it) - go for it!
Auditions will be held Tuesday, September 15th, 8pm – 10pm in Studio 3 and Wednesday, September 16th, 9pm – midnight in Studio 4. Please bring a contemporary monologue and/or prepare one of these sides. If you have any trouble accessing the sides, please e-mail crt247@nyu.edu. Looking forward to seeing you there!

"The Crooked Cross" by José Rivera
THE CROOKED CROSS by Jose Rivera
Directed by Dan Stearns
The Crooked Cross is a play about the power of cultural icons and symbols, and their enduring ability to control and, if not treated carefully, destroy our lives. It is a coming of age tale gone wrong, it is the story of what happens when we numb ourselves to our past, and it is a dark look at both Nazi fascism and contemporary American society.
Seeking 3 men and 3 women. Actors should be daring, willing to take risks, make bold choices, and explore themselves in relation to our culture and history.

"The Rock Garden" by Sam Shepard - Directed by Carly McCollow
The Rock Garden by Sam Shepard. Directed by Carly McCollow.
This semester, Carly McCollow is directing The Rock Garden by Sam Shepard, one of his earliest pieces. It's a play about a boy coming of age when he realizes how his dreams and desires don't match up with those of his family or environment. When he finally speaks up for himself and presents himself honestly to his father, he frees himself from his childhood and embarks on life as an individual.
The cast consists of:
Girl - teenager (16-17). The first girl Boy falls in love with. She too realizes the repression in his house and wants to dream and experience life with Boy.
Boy - teenager (18-19). A dreamer who is growing up and his parents refuse to accept this. He is ignored in his home life, and loves to explore with Girl.
Woman - Boy's mother. She is ill but she has lived every minute of her life, though in the domestic realm. She came from a troubled childhood and got through it by dancing in the rain and dreaming while doing household chores. She's not ready to leave Boy but doesn't know how to connect to him. She's outspoken once you get to know her, but to a stranger she'd seem quite shy.
Man - Boy's father. Never wanted to be a father but realized that Woman needed to have a child. Breadwinner for the family, in touch with the world outside his home and pretty oblivious to what happens within it. Never been good with women, married Woman because she was beautiful and he knew she'd be a good wife.
